City of Hornell Housing Authority

Established in 1966, the City of Hornell Housing Authority and its affiliated entities provide rental subsidy to 281 households and owns and manages 147 units of mixed finance affordable housing in the City of Hornell. Our staff operates in an efficient, ethical, and professional manner supporting those in need move toward economic self-sufficiency. We hope you find our website a useful tool into understanding the services, activities, and programs of our Agency.

Mission Statement

The City of Hornell Housing Authority will focus its resources on maintaining, constructing, and assisting households and individuals of the Hornell Community with quality, economically efficient, environmentally friendly, and personally safe homes. The Authority will promote quality value-added services for its clients by creating and maintaining partnerships with appropriate agencies with the collective goal of improving the quality of life in the community we serve.

We are accepting applications for our 1-5 bedroom apartments located in the City of Hornell: Must meet income and occupancy requirements.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the City of Hornell Housing Authority will hold a public hearing on Thursday, June 15th, 2023 at 4:00 pm, at the Administrative Office Building, 87 East Washington Street, Hornell, New York, for the purpose of receiving comments on its Annual Agency Plan Update, proposed rent increases effective 10/1/23, and proposed lease changes to the Hornell Community Apartments properties. Copies of the documents will be available starting June 13th, 2023 at the Authority’s main office, located at 87 E. Washington Street, Hornell, New York, 14843. Any comments or questions about the above matters will be heard at the public meeting, or can be referred to Karen H Carney, Executive Director, at (607) 324-7912, ext. 378 during business hours.
